  Dear Members,

  You are invited to the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) SA Branch 2024 Annual General Meeting and end of year dinner held in the Ivy Room at the Maylands Hotel on the 26th of November 2024.

  The agenda for the evening is as follows:

  6:00 pm – Pre-meeting drinks
  6:30 pm – Annual General Meeting
  7:30 pm – Annual Dinner

  The AIP (SA Branch) Annual General Meeting will start at 6:30 pm (pre-meeting drinks from 6:00 pm). Nomination of the 2025 committee will be included as part of the proceedings. Please see the attached letter for details of the current committee’s nominations for the 2025 committee.

  Dinner will be from 7.30 pm, following the main course we will have an after-dinner speaker (TBC).

  Meals to be ordered and paid on arrival from the hotel's menu.

  Future Science returns for 2024 to showcase the latest innovations in STEM teaching and research from WA's teaching experts that will enhance your classroom practices. UWA is hosting this year's conference on Monday, 02 December 2024. 

  An exciting programme, packed with concurrent sessions and workshops, is available for you to select from. Between sessions, you can explore the trade expo to discover new teaching resources and specialist equipment.

  The Keynote address will be delivered by Dr Neil Robinson, recipient of the 2024 Premier's Science Prize in the 'Early Career Scientist of the Year' category. In May 2022, Neil took up a prestigious three-year Forrest Research Foundation Fellowship, where he will focus on the design, synthesis, characterisation and application of novel spin coversion materials for applications in hydrogen liquefaction and beyond.

  The International Joint Workshop on the Standard Model and Beyond 2024/3rd Gordon Godfrey Workshop on Astroparticle Physics takes place on 9-13 Dec 2024 at The University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia, hosted by the Sydney Consortium for Particle Physics and Cosmology.  It will bring together theorists to discuss current ideas on models of the dark sector of the Universe and to relate them to discuss recent developments in particle physics, cosmology and astroparticle physics in the context of testing the Standard Model (SM) and searches for new physics beyond the SM (BSM). The joint workshop will provide opportunities for collaboration between researchers from different institutes, and help young researchers better promote themselves in the community.

  The meeting will feature invited plenary talks covering topics of recent interest, as well as a number of parallel sessions to provide an opportunity for junior scientists to present their work.

  The "Wagga 2025" Conference Organising Committee are pleased to announce that the 47^th Annual Condensed Matter and Materials Meeting will hit the road and be held at the University of Queensland on Tuesday 4^th – Friday 7^th February 2025.

  The organising committee is Ben Powell (chair, UQ), Carla Verdi (UQ), Peter Jacobson (UQ), and Jennifer MacLeod (QUT).

  About the Meeting

  The 2025 Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) Summer Meeting will be held on the 1^st – 5^th of December 2025 at the University of Wollongong, Australia.

  This inexpensive meeting is targeted at Australia-based professional scientists, academics, post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.

  The AIP Summer Meeting is the biennial meeting of the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) that has run since 2017 in the capital cities Sydney (2017), Melbourne (2019), Brisbane (2021) and Canberra (2023). This is the first time that the Summer Meeting will be held in a regional location within Australia, and we are very proud to hold this event at the University of Wollongong, NSW.
