The Australian Synchrotron in Clayton is a world-class science facility that supports a broad range of high-quality research across medicine, nanotechnology, manufacturing and mineral exploration. Accelerating electrons to 3 GeV in energy, the synchrotron generates intense X-ray beams for use a number of specialised experimental end stations, or 'beamlines', each dedicated to a different technique.

The AIP is offering members a rare opportunity to get an expert guided tour of Australia's only synchrotron light source. In addition to the visiting the beamlines, we will take advantage of a current maintenance period and visitors will be able to enter the normally off-limits accelerator tunnels and see the nations highest energy particle accelerators up close.
