AIP WA Annual General Meeting

Conference attendees are encouraged to attend the WA AIP AGM held at the end of the student conference at the Ken & Julie Michael Building, University of Western Australia in Crawley, WA, Australia. 

This convivial in-person event brings together members of the AIP (WA) community for our annual AGM and an evening of networking, including a talk by Dr Danka Sampson, recently named a 2024 Young Tall PoppyThe evening will kick-off with pre-dinner drinks and networking, followed by a quick AGM for members (students are encouraged to attend), then dinner and drinks and a talk by Dr Sampson.

From waves to images: optical coherence tomography in clinical application

This talk explores the fundamental physics underlying optical coherence tomography (OCT) and its clinical application. 

BIO: Dr Danka Sampson is a translational researcher and senior lecturer jointly appointed between the Lions Eye Institute and the University of Western Australia. She is involved in the global optics and photonics community through engagement with Optica and SPIE – the largest optics and photonics societies globally. She serves as a light science ambassador and supports various committees for Optica, and designs STEM children’s books and educational games/materials with SPIE
